Creating a new presentation
Once you have logged into Shaman, click “CLM presentation” to be directed to the CLM presentation builder.
To create a new presentation in Shaman, click the ‘New’ button in the top right corner.
A pop-up window will appear asking you to add a ‘Name’ for your presentation, and assign a ‘Product/Brand´ from the list of Product/brands available in your account.
You will then be directed to the “Overview” of your presentation. From here, you can complete the Veeva Details of your presentation (click here for more information) or click “Assemble” to start adding content to your CLM presentation.
After clicking “Assemble”, you will be directed to the Shaman “meeting canvas”.
The first thing to do is start adding some content to your presentation. We can do this by clicking the “Add content” button in the top right corner.
Clicking this button will reveal the following options:
Upload slides - either PPTX, PDF, JPG or PNG files
Upload documents (PDF)
Upload videos (MP4)
In this article we will concentrate on uploading slides, documents and videos. If you would like to know more about about importing content from the library, please click here.
Uploading Slides
A CLM presentation is made up of slides, but other types of content can also be added (PDF documents or videos). Slides can be uploaded to Shaman in the following formats:
PPT (powerpoint)
PDF
JPEG
PNG
To add slides to your presentation, click Add content → Upload slides → select PPT, PDF or JPEG, you will then be able to select the files you would like to upload to your presentation.
This is where the magic of Shaman happens.
Your files will now be uploaded and more importantly, automatically converted to HTML format so that you can add interactivity to your presentation and finally export it to Veeva Vault.
This upload/ conversion process depends on the number of slides you are uploading. If it’s a 10 slide presentation, it will take seconds. If it’s a 100 slide presentation you may want to make yourself a coffee as it will take a minute or two.
Once Shaman has finished converting your slides to HTML, they will appear in your canvas in the same sequential order as the PPT, PDF or JPEGs you have uploaded. By default, slides will be added in chapters of 5, as per the screenshot below.

Upload Videos
Adding a video works the same way - click Add content → Upload videos → Browse and select the video file you wish to upload from your computer.
Important things to remember when adding a video - make sure that you select a MP4 file with a maximum size of 100 MB.
After the video has been uploaded and converted, the next step is to select a still (thumbnail) for the video slide. You can choose from three stills from the video or you can upload a different image (JPG or PNG with a size of 2048x1536 px) at a later stage.
The video will be added to the presentation as its own slide. It will also be available from the Library.
Top tip!
You can see a clapperboard icon on video slides in your presentation, to help you tell the difference from a video and a standard slide.
Good to know!
You can create links from other slides to link to a video slide, but you can not add links to a video slide itself.
Upload PDF Documents
A PDF document is a PDF file that you would like to add as an additional material in your presentation. The PDF document will be viewed within one slide of your presentation, with the option to scroll through the PDF document, to zoom in and out and change view options. A PDF document is distinguishable from a normal slide in the overview of your presentation as it has a grey banner with the title of the PDF as well as a white paper icon. When looking at the individual slide where the PDF document is situated in your presentation, it will have a magnifying glass icon on the slide.
A great use case for this would be any studies, references or legal information that is text heavy. You want to include it in your presentation, but perhaps it is not the most dynamic content to be presenting in a meeting with a HCP.
Uploading documents is simple. Click Add → Upload documents → Browse to select a PDF file from your computer. Your PDF document slide will be added to the end of your presentation in its own slide and you can then click and drag this slide to move it to the desired place in the presentation.
