What content can be uploaded in the Shaman email editor?

The Shaman email editor is an easy to use drag and drop HTML builder. This means that you can not import or upload previous email designs (in any formats - HTML, PDF nor JPEG).

Using blocks and the content items available, you can populate email templates and fragments with engaging images, text, headers and buttons.

Images for email

You can upload images in the following formats to the Shaman email editor:

We advise size for images with 100% width of 1200px (most email have content width 600px, for retina screens this means 1200px). We will automatically resize images larger than 1600px width to 1600px.

Veeva advises keeping this content as small as possible, as it needs to be synced and downloaded by sales reps.

FYI: Veeva Engage does not support video.

Good to know!

When uploading images to the Shaman email editor, the maximum size limit is 3MB. Any images bigger than this will receive an error message and will not upload successfully.

Optimal dimensions for email banners

A banner image is a great way to set the tone of your email, as well as capture your readers attention with an engaging image or burst of color.

When it comes to the dimensions of a banner, we would suggest 1200px wide. Although the content area in an email is 600px wide, for Apple retina screens (such as iPads and iPhones) the pixel density is 2x, so to ensure these types of screens are also catered to, the best width for email headers would actually be 1200px.

As mentioned earlier the article, Shaman automatically downsizes images with a width greater than 1600px to 1600px. This is to ensure that your HCPs will not receive emails with very large or MB heavy images.

GIFs for email

You can also upload GIFs to the email editor, in the same way that you upload images.

The same recommendations and size limits apply to both GIFs and images, so any GIF over 3MB will not be uploaded successfully.

Good to know!

It is not possible to embed a video directly into your email, but you can make the most of “call to actions” such as buttons and images to link to a video. You can add your video as a Veeva hosted document, click here to find out more.
