A divider is a line which is used to visually divide two sections of email content.

How to add a divider to your email content

Let´s imagine that you have created a new email fragment or template, have completed the email details, and are now in the HTML editor ready to add elements to your email fragment or template. (If you need to revise any of these steps, check out this article here).

From the menus on the right-hand side, select the content menu. Find the divider icon in the content menu, and simply drag and drop that icon onto your email canvas.

You will notice that a standard divider line has been added to the email canvas.

Width: Here you can define the width of the divider (meaning the span of the divider in relation to the width of the email content). The divider width will automatically be defined as the same width as your email content.

To change this, you can use the slider next to “Width” in the content menu to decrease the width of the divider.

Line: Choosing “Solid”, “Dotted” or “Dashed” from the options in the dropdown menu you can change the type of line used for the divider. There is also a numerical field which refers to the thickness of the divider line. You can either type a number directly in this field or use the minus and plus icons to decrease or increase the thickness of the line.

Align: here you can select an alignment for the divider in relation to the column: left, center, right or full.

Container Padding: Padding can be used to perfectly position the divider within the body of your email content. You can choose to add the same padding to all sides by maintaining the “All sides” toggle enabled. Or, you can disable this toggle to manually configure the padding size for each side of the divider. You can use the plus and minus icons to increase or decrease the padding, or you can type a numerical value directly into the padding box.

Good to know!

If you have not added any padding between a divider and another content image, it might be difficult to select the divider. To easily select the divider, increase the padding to allow sufficient space for you to click it.

Hide on Desktop: When this toggle is enabled, the divider will not be displayed when viewing the email on a desktop computer or laptop, it will only be viewable on a mobile view.

Good to know!

We highly recommend you pay attention to how your email content looks on both mobile and desktop views. To learn more great tips when creating email content compatible with mobile and desktop views, take a look at this article here.

How to delete or duplicate a divider

To delete a divider, simply click anywhere within the frame surrounding the divider to select it. You will then notice two icons - a bin icon to delete the divider, and a copy icon to duplicate it.

Depending on which you wish to do, simply click the icon, and the divider will either be deleted or duplicated.
