We are delighted to present to you our Shaman Hero for the month of May -
Zeynep Eler, Customer Experience Strategy & Digital Expert at Novartis (Turkey).
Zeynep has 1-4 years of experience with both creating and managing strategic content creation for CLMs and Approved Emails in the Life Sciences industry. Zeynep has a very “hands-on” perspective of Shaman, as it forms an integral part of her workflow process when creating engaging multi-channel content. We are very excited to learn more about her practical involvement with Shaman!
My name is Zeynep Eler and I´m a Customer Experience Strategy & Digital Expert at Novartis Turkey. My role consists of creating content for Approved Emails and managing content creation for both CLMs and Approved Emails
Tell us about your workflow process before Shaman?
We were working with third-party creative agencies and HTML coding agencies that took 3-4 weeks to upload a single piece of digital content to share with our customers. This process was so far away from having personalized digital content creation for different target audiences.
How have our products and services improved your workflow or made your job easier?
Shaman reduced the content creation time span significantly and has empowered us to be more creative and cost-efficient in our digital content creation and development workflow. Marketing teams are more agile in meeting the needs and desires of our customers, by creating a more personalized omni-channel journey without the time-consuming model of our early days with HTML agencies.

What do you like most about Shaman?
Shaman's integration with Veeva saves a significant amount of time. It also allows me to be more creative when designing emails in terms of quantity and quality. A/B testing and creating marketing funnels has never been easier.
In addition, in the Pharma sector - the world of approvals and regulations - it takes up a good deal of time to share our digital content. Shaman was such a relief from a content creator's perspective. What I like about Shaman specifically is its user-friendly interface. In my professional opinion as a communication designer, it must be so tricky to design a content creation tool that will be easy for everyone to use. Legal, marketing, engineering, or even chemist backgrounds can learn about the interface smoothly, resulting in exponential growth in terms of content creation and development.
What is your favorite feature in the Email Builder and why?
What I mostly like about the Email Editor is that you can duplicate existing content and build on it in a matter of minutes. You can create email fragments that promise personalized communication with the customer. Another feature that I recently tried was adding free text to an email to give space for our sales representatives to customize details such as place or date information of a congress or an event. This kind of autonomy also enabled us to quickly reach our customers with the slightest changes in the programs of events.
Tell us about your favorite feature in the CLM builder.
The CLM Builder in Shaman is such a shortcut in our content creation process. The Smart Update feature allows you to edit slides without going over the uploading process all over again. I find this feature very valuable in terms of cost and time aspects. Also, creating interactive links such as the menu button, navigation, and a link to new content on our website is a question of 3-4 minutes with 25 + slides as you only need to draw the link boxes without any coding knowledge.
Have you noticed any difference in the happiness and performance of your field force since you started using Shaman?
Yes, they seem happier. Creating RTEs in Shaman that have a more personalized taste has enhanced their relationships with the customers according to HCP feedback.
Do you think our Help Center is a useful resource?
The Help Center is fantastic. Without a programming or coding background, I can train myself to create more advanced RTEs.
Could you share a handy tip with us from your experience using Shaman?
Tag your email content. When you get used to the fast pace of content creation in Shaman, it is best to prevent losing track of your content creation. Tagging your email templates and fragments will allow you to find what you are looking for in a second when you have a content bulk of emails and presentations. Any experience-sharing activities that create inspirational gatherings with other marketing teams will be much more influential with effective content tagging. Also, it will guide the newbies in content creation and development.
What handy features do you think are currently missing from Shaman or you would like to be improved?
It would be great to have a stock photos pool to get even more creative with our digital content. We are working closely with our creative agencies who have access to such content pools. It would be such a dream to have those photos, icons, and illustrations in Shaman.
Looking to the future
What do you think will be the biggest trend for multichannel content?
AI-driven content suggestions. Shaman has followed this trend by generating subject line suggestions at first. Initiatives such as ChatGPT unveiled a whole different era and pushed all content creators to get on board for even more unconventional thinking & designing mechanisms.
What will be the focus of multichannel content in your team in the next 12 months?
"If you design for everyone, you design for no one."
We are determined to move away from our comfort zones. Even in a rigid sector like Pharma, our main key messages are about medical knowledge, and there is a promising space for personalization and omni-channel engagement. Not every dermatologist wants to know about the same information. Asking questions rather than forming assumptions is a must. Fast and easy content creation tools such as Shaman opens the way for creative effectiveness to fulfill the unmet needs of our customers.
How do you see the Pharma industry in the future in terms of Omni-channel and HCP interaction?
The Pharma industry requires in-house capability-building programs for digital content creation and development. Using tools like Shaman to create RTEs and CLMs at the right time and for the right HCPs is critical to moving forward with effective omni-channel communication that puts the customer at the center of business strategies.
